Dear Parents and Students,

First and foremost, allow me to welcome everyone back to Madison High School for the 2011-2012 school year. My name is Rich Cross and I will be teaching U.S. History, Spanish I/II, Spanish III/IV and Street Law here at Madison this year. I am also extremely excited to be back at Madison for my fourth year. I was officially hired by Madison District Public schools in early May of 2008, and I have been very involved with the school since then. I finished this past school year teaching World History and Street Law here at Madison. In addition to teaching, I am a co-sponsor for the National Honor Society, as well as the Varsity Football Defensive Coordinator. I’m looking forward having another successful year here at Madison, both in the classroom and on the football field.

I am a Madison Heights native, living here until I was 15. My family and I relocated to the “Thumb Area” of Michigan in 1998 after my dad received a new job in Saginaw, MI. I finished my high school career at Mayville High School, a small high school in Tuscola County. During my time at Mayville I was three-sport athlete and the Valedictorian of the Class of 2002. Through my experiences in high school I learned what a high status that academics carried; an even HIGHER status than athletics. After graduating, I accepted a Presidential Scholarship from Saginaw Valley State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Secondary Education six years later, in May of 2008. While I attended SVSU, I worked at the Lighthouse Center for Neurological Rehabilitation in Caro, MI. My job detailed taking care of and attending to highly aggressive adult males with closed head injuries. Needless to say, there was never a dull moment on the job. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership/Principalship through Saginaw Valley State University and look forward to becoming a school administrator one day.

I am exceptionally excited to be back here in my hometown. I hope that we can have some fun this year as we study and learn about the last 150+ years of U.S. History, the Spanish language, and the American legal system. I also hope to have some success on the football field, however, academics always come before athletics. If you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to contact me:
