In social/life skills, students are working on a variety of applicable life/social skills.
During this hour, students read "Choices" which is a Scholastic magazine containing articles pertaining to teen issues. This is a time when we can sit down and really discuss the topic being covered.
Some days, students may use this as a study hour to finish up work from the week or prepare for their other classes.
They also may interact with one another through games which helps them build necessary social skills such as turn taking, being part of a team, interacting with others- manners, appropriate conversation, etc.
Lessons may also be provided to teach specific social skills such as introductions, study habits, socially appropriate behaviors such as manners, etc.
